Mark Brunton
What did you do before 808?
I started out a couple of years ago by working out in our home gym. While I got some OK results I found it difficult to keep up a regular routine, got bored easily and started to fall off. I also ended up picking up an injury because I wasn’t using good technique. That was when I started working with Abe doing personal training and joined 808 shortly after that.
How do you find 808 sessions?
In a word, brilliant. 808 has that right mixture of fun, camaraderie, and motivation combined with well thought through work out routines. The ability to choose between different session formats – boxing, strength or cardio – is a real plus, and I’ve been able to build a weekly workout routine that works for me and has helped me toward achieving my goals. And a real plus – I’ve met some great people along the way who have encouraged me in my fitness journey.
Is 808 for everyone?
Yes. One of the things I like about 808 is that the focus is on self-improvement, and not about keeping up with someone else. We have people at all ages, and all stages of fitness who attend 808 sessions. It definitely an encouraging environment and we have a strong team ethos in the sessions – it’s that camaraderie and diversity which is a real plus.
What are some goals you have achieved since training with us?
I have significantly improved my fitness level. I’ve completed numerous events, including the TU challenge, O Rock, Coastal Challenge and Tough Mudder. I’ve definitely thinned down and gained strength, but more importantly, I feel more energised.
What would you say to anyone who wants to give it a go, but is a bit scared?
I’d say, just give it a go but commit to come along to a few sessions to get the feel for things. I did that, got to know some people, found I gradually improved in my fitness and haven’t looked back.
